NAME: Aaron Durogati
HOME: Merano, Italy
DISCIPLINES (ALPINE): Steep skiing, speed riding, ski touring
I started skiing when I was 3 years old and Alpine ski raced until I was 18. I then became a ski instructor and trainer. With the money I was earning during the winter, I financed my paragliding competition season. During the winter, I spent lot of time in a snowplow with very little time for myself. In 2013 I became a professional athlete. This was my biggest goal, to be able to combine my skills with being in the mountains. Mixing skiing and flying is one of my favorite activities.
How do you recharge your batteries for the next challenge?
I like to spend time in my home mountains hiking, flying, climbing alone or with good friends.
How do you conquer difficult situations?
I try to visualize what I want to do and if it feels fluent in my mind, then I am confident in going for it!
What sacrifices have you had to make to get to where you are today and were they worth it?
I’ve made many sacrifices but it has always been my dream and I love what I do. It is definitely worth it.
What do you do when you aren’t skiing?
Most of the time I'm flying.
